If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere. – Vincent Van Gogh
We reached Auli late evening on a cold winter day. It was subzero and the place had just recently experienced snowfall. After shaking like a leaf for a few seconds, I hurriedly ran into the guest room where the heater was on. Oh, pure bliss. How was I going to brave the cold tomorrow? Have I got appropriate clothes for this cold a weather?
After a warm cup of milk, I retire to bed thinking tomorrow I will be a dead bird.
Its 5am and the sun is about to rise. My alarm goes off and I wake up with a start to an otherwise eerie silence. I jump out of the bed and open the drapes. The view – simply out of this world. I am in paradise.
Snow-capped mountains on all sides, tiny village pockets far far away oh what a sight. I packed myself in layers of clothing and it was time to check out my surroundings. It was my first time in the snow, so I was like a wildcat running free. I can never forget the experience. It was magical.
I walked out straight to this beautiful hut which I now call – Observation Deck Auli. It sat right at the edge of the cliff overlooking the endless mountains.
You know the best part? The room was heated !!
I sat here with my family for hours. I honestly don’t remember how long we were here. The view was breathtaking. We watched as the sun rose above the horizon. The beautiful spectrum of shades it threw on mother earth, it was magical. At first, we thought there is no way in hell we can wake up that early in the morning given the cold, but it was so worth it.
